Travel Tips from Other Experienced Problem Solvers

From time to time, I’ll be sharing the experiences of people I’ve met who have traveled with loved ones who needed assistance. I recently met 2 wonderful sisters who took their 90 year old father on what would be his last trip to their summer home in Kennebunkport, Maine.

For anyone who has never been to Maine, it definitely should be on your “to do” list. As a child, I spent summer vacations in nearby York Beach which seemed like paradise. How could you not love a place that had everything you could possibly want to do.

These 2 women were determined to give their seriously ill father a vacation he would be able to truly enjoy despite his condition. Since it was drive-able from their home, they were able to rent a motorized wheelchair which made pit stops manageable and also gave him mobility at the destination. He spent long days enjoying the summer Maine weather, watching the ocean and dining on the world’s best seafood. All returned home with a sense of peace. A perfect example of an  opportunity that will not return. Carpe Diem!
